The Isle of Lewis in the Western Isles / Outer Hebrides of Scotland has some of the most glorious beaches to be found in the Unitied Kingdom. While many have described the island as being little more than a large peatbog others have recognised that it is around the very long coast that the most spectacular scenery is to be found. The Royal Hotel
The Royal Hotel: The Royal Hotel is the oldest and most historic hotel in the town of Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. It first opened in 1850 and has witnessed much over it's lifetime. Interestingly the hotel has some period features in the forward facing rooms and although the exterior looks every bit the part of such an old building the Royal Hotel is excellently maintained and offers the most wonderful, and wholly modern, accommodation.
The Hotel's Boatshed Restaurant and HS1 Cafe Bar are amongst the most popular in Stornoway.
The Caladh Inn
The Caladh Inn: The Caladh Inn is the closest hotel to Stornoway airport but is just on the outskirts of the town and no more than a couple of minutes walk from the town centre. Although the Caladh Inn has the most rooms and is the town's largest hotel it maintains a superb reputation for offering excellent hospitality and the most friendliest atmosphere. Every customer is greeted with a smiling friendly face in an intimate fashion more akin to a smaller establishment.
